How to Set Up ‘Click and Collect’ in Shopify

Click and Collect, also known as Buy Online, Pick Up In-Store, is a popular option for both retailers and customers. With shoppers increasingly seeking faster and more convenient access to products, Click and Collect has become a must-have for retailers. Customers can purchase items online and pick them up in-store or at a designated collection point. Store employees gather and prepare the products for pickup, and notify the customer when the items are ready. The customers can then collect their items at the specified collection point with their proof of order confirmation.

To set up Click and Collect in your Shopify or Shopify Plus account, follow these steps:

Activate Multi-Origin Shipping

Multi-Origin Shipping is enabled by default if you have two or more stores. But if you have one store or don’t have a Shipping Profile, you are most likely using Single-Origin Shipping. To switch to Multi-Origin Shipping, go to your Shopify admin dashboard and navigate to “Settings” on the bottom left of the menu. From there, click “Shipping and Delivery” to open up a new menu. Under the “Shipping” section, click the “Manage” button and you’ll see a “Shipping from” section. This is where you’ll find the “Activate multi-origin shipping” option. Click this and then tap “Save” to confirm your switch. Take note that you cannot switch back to Single-Origin Shipping after this.

Set Up Click and Collect

Now that you’ve checked your eligibility and activated Multi-Origin Shipping, you can proceed to set up Click and Collect in your Shopify account. Follow these steps:

  1. Log in to your Shopify account.
  2. Go to “Settings” at the bottom right and click on “Locations”.
  3. Here you can edit the location of the pickup. Make sure the box that says “Fulfill online orders from this location” is ticked.
  4. You can add more than one location and select which areas offer Click and Collect.
  5. Next, go back to “Settings” and click on “Shipping and Delivery”.
  6. Scroll down to “Local Pickup” and click “Manage”.
  7. Tick the box in the Location Status section.
  8. Select the expected pickup time: 1 hour, 2 hours, 4 hours, 24 hours, 2-4 days, or 5+ days.
  9. Write down any pickup instructions and messages for the customers. For example, any COVID restrictions and guidelines that customers should follow, such as wearing masks and limiting the number of people in the store.
  10. You can also add your store’s opening hours so that customers cannot come to collect outside of those hours.
  11. Finally, click “Save” at the top right and you should be good to go. Make sure to test it out to see if everything is working and that all the details are correct.

In conclusion, offering Click and Collect is an excellent way to provide your customers with a faster and more convenient shopping experience.
